Established in Sioux Lookout since May 1988.  Equay-wuk receives financial support from local, regional and federal government grants as well as donations from local individuals, businesses, churches and  organizations.
Mission Statement
Striving to always be successful, the Equay-wuk (Women's Group) is not only committed to empowering women, but is committed to empowering all citizens of the Nishnawbe-Aski Nation with a holistic approach  to improve the quality of life in our communities.  The Equay-wuk (Women's Group) promotes: love; respect; tolerance; understanding; fairness and equality for all citizens of the Nishnawbe-Aski Nation. 
Programs at  Equay-wuk (Women's Group)
Parent Support Program 
    The Parent Support Program is designed to assist and support parents in raising healthy children by enabling parents to understand the needs of their children.  Also, to enable and support teen parents to take care of their own needs as well as their children.   Resource materials and parenting workshops available upon request.
Skills Training Program for Aboriginal women and men.  
    Equay-wuk has conducted training in syllabics/ translation, pre-employment skills, and evening computer training courses.  Ongoing job readiness training and computer training available.
Computer Lab 
    Equau-wuk has a computer lab available for rent.  Equipped with twelve computers including the latest software—Windows 95, Corel WordPerfect 8, Simply Accounting, Internet ready.  
Community Wellness Program 
    The Community Wellness Program is designed to work with the women from Sioux Lookout and neighbouring communities to promote and develop the concept of wellness by means of activities, workshops, support networks and training.  Wellness resource materials and workshops available upon request.  
Kush-kee-hoh-win Manuals 
    Kush-kee-hoh-win Manuals on prevention of family violence are completed and plans are in place to distribute and train community resource people.  Copies are available in Oji-Cree and English.
