You will now create a simple HTML (Hypertext Markup Language) document using Netscape Navigator Gold. Creating a new document in Netscape Gold is just as easy as creating a document in your favorite word processor.

1. Click on the word File from the menu-bar
2. Select New Document...
3. Then select Blank as shown below.

We will not discuss the templates or wizards in this tutorial, however please feel free to explore them at your leisure. Most of the templates and wizards are located on Netscape's server and change frequently.

When you select blank, a new window should appear on your screen, looking something like the image below:

Now you are ready to create your page. You may wish to arrange your windows on your screen so you are able to follow this tutorial and edit your document at the same time. The next step of this tutorial will detail how to place and format text on your page.

You will also want to save your work frequently throughout this tutorial. To save the document you are working on, click on the disk icon in the top toolbar (3rd button from the left) or select the File menu, and then Save. You may save the file in any directory you wish, but call it "index.html".
